After five days of intense competition, we are excited to share the news that Ewa Mataya Laurance (aka The Striking Viking) has come out on top and won the 2012 WPBA Masters. Laurance beat No. 2 ranked and fellow BCA Hall of Famer Allison Fisher at the Soaring Eagle & Casino resort in a 7-5 victory.
“It was a true battle of champions, and we’re thrilled to see Ewa rise to the top. Brunswick Billiards prides itself by creating top-of-the-line billiards equipment, and we are delighted one of our new Limited Edition Gold Crown Anniversary Pool Cues served as her trusted companion throughout the tournament,” said Austin Rothbard, president, Brunswick Billiards. “As our spokesperson for 24 years, Ewa continues to champion the sport of billiards as she shares her knowledge, tips and love of the game with pool enthusiasts around the world.”
After Laurance took a quick lead 5-1 lead in the race to 7, Fisher managed to make a short comeback to tie at 5-5. However, Laurance held her off in the final two games of the match, which ended in a 7-5 victory.
Laurance defeated No. 1 ranked Ga Young Kim 7-6 for her place in the title bout. Allison Fisher defeated Kelly Fisher 7-4 to head to the finals against Laurance.
